Advice, to upgrade or not?

Hello Experts,

I've always built my own PC's, I'm not extremely technical and don't really follow the news in hardware until I need to upgrade.

My current spec:
CPU: Athlon XP 2000+ (Thunderbird I believe)
Motherboard: Asus A7V333
Ram: 2x512 mb Kingston Value PC2700 (Not the best I'm well aware)
Harddrive: 2xWestern Digital Caviar WD3200JB (IDE)
Graphics: HIS X800 XT PE

As you can see I've recently upgraded my graphics card (before PCI-e though), and I'm content with my harddrives also.

My problem is that my Motherboard has ceased to function and instead of buying a replacement I would rather upgrade CPU/Mobo/Ram and leave it at that if possible?

I understand Asrock made a motherboard which can handle PCI-e AND AGP which is really appealing to me since I'd rather not have to buy a new gfx card already.

I would need a spec that would keep me going (Gaming) for prefarably 1½-2 years.

Main concern, which CPU/Ram would allow me to do this? If any at all?

Thanks for your time all.

CPU and ram to do this is fairly easy, something like a X2 3800+ will almost certainly last at least that long. Problem is your GC will run out of steam quicker. However 2gig of Ram ( Geil value will be fine ) and a 3800+ should last that long.
