Hi all,
First off sorry this is split between an issue and compatible question...

I am not too good with specs on hardware so i am sorry if this is a real dumb questions.
My nephew has a pre build OCUK machine he purchased 2 years ago.
Spec:
OcUK Gaming Denizen Gaming PC - AMD Ryzen 2300X
FS-1DK-OG
Gigabyte AB350M-DS3H V2
Team Group Vulcan T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Grey
AMD Ryzen 5 2500X Quad Core/Eight Thread 4.0GHz Processor (MPK)

He done some reading up and decided to buy a new CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X
I checked what i could see this would work by the CPU list on gigabytes spec on that board.

So after saying to my sister this will work i fitted it and it worked when they left and got home plugged his machine in it would not boot...
Thinking that was weird they re slitted the RAM and it booted until a day or 2 later same thing so they got some new RAM and it worked instantly for a few days then wouldn't post again.

Changed the CPU back to the Ryzen 5 and its been fine since.

So after all of that i am guessing the Ryzen 7 is not compatible? i have checked the BIOS and he is on the latest one required for the Ryzen 7.

Can anyone confirm if this sounds right or if there is something stupid iv missed i,e the CPU is not actually compatible?

Thanks in advance.

3700x is supported from f40 bios and that fact it worked confirms that, so you need to test the cpu.

Which bios version is he on ?

I'd check the power supply. OCUK usually install kolink power supplies in their prebuilt PC's & my comment on them is you can buy better.

HI all thank you he is on f40 bios confirmed that prior to installing on paper it should work and it did but somehting is not right thats for sure, so at least i know the 2 parts are indeed compatible i shall investigate further.
New RAM has not worked will check PSU and battery thanks.

I would be tempted to update the bios to the latest .
