I've currently got a Benq 1650 DVDRW in my setup but its bit the dust and i need to replace it, is there any recommendations for a new, quick and reliable drive that is also a good price?

also is there a quieter psu to the tagan 480w? mine seems quite loud but i'm not sure if thats because the tower is stored in a cupboard under my desk.

The Pioneer 111 16x or the NEC AD5170 18x would get my vote.

I highly rate Seasonic PSU's. Mine is just about silent. But a lot of PSU's spin the fan speed up and down depending on load or temperature. If your PC is in a small cupboard then it could be hot in there, causing the fan to spin faster. Take it out and try it. Also are you sure it's the fan? The noisiest thing on my machine is the hard drive but in the past the northbridge/chipset has also caused a lot of noise.

i've tried opening the door and smashing the back of the cupboard out, and when the door is open the noise does go down abit...so i'm presuming that it can get very hot in there.

i dont trust those pioneers 111 especially after recieveing 3 on the trot which wouldnt work so had to be RMA'd one after the other...

I would suggest this also NEC AD5170 18x or the plextor drives are superb...

as far as psu is concerned I have an antec 500 neo and its silent
