Hiya,

I was doing a clean up of inside on computer(specs below) and I removed a fan from the motherboard (power unplugged). I cleaned the fan, placed it back into the exact same spot. Went to turn on the computer and it started up but then powered off. Did this for everything I tried.

Tested CPU/Motherboard with no ram/harddrive/graphics card/ all in different combinations and no success on boot. Tested my parts on a spare machine and all worked fine. Think the motherboard is blown... sending it back as its still under warranty until end of this year but it could take up2 28 days.

I am wondering whether I should consider buying a new mobo to replace to just wait out the 28 days. Looking around on forums I can see there is new chipsets on the horizon.... should i wait?

Spec of current;

Q6600 G0 w/ Ultra 120
Asus P5E X38 Motherboard (Sending back to supplier)
BFG 8800GT OC 512MB Graphics Card
2 x 160 GB Hitachi Hard Drives
4GB Patriot Extreme Performace Mem. 4-4-4-12
Hiper 620W Power Supply (Non Modular... pain in arse but good supply)

Advice on what i should do is much appreciated.

Are you sure you haven't dislodged the 4/8pin ATX power connector? Easily done.

Also, since you're using a modular PSU, make those cables are firmly connected to the PSU too.

Thanks for reply. Im 110% it was connected correctly, got nothing from the board, Green Light was on... fans powered up then it died. Like something has burnt out but not sure.

Its a NON-modular supply so no need there.

Will triple check it. Give me 20 minutes and il post my findings. Too hot for this stuff today.

New findings;

- Powers up with all components.
- Graphics card fans spins and full RPM.
- Hard Drives Power up and spin
- Fans spin
- Motherboard green line on.
- No display on monitor but card works in another machine
- All cables are connected correctly.
