Hi all,

Just filled my loop up and I'm leak testing as I type this! I have some Feser Corrosion Blocker. It's been opened since July last year.

Is it still ok to use and add to my loop?

Thanks,

RoEy

Sorry, ADVICE.........

You're not typing this up on the same machine you're leak testing, are you?

I probably wouldn't bother with it to be honest. If you don't have aluminium in direct contact with copper in your loop you're unlikely to have corrosion issues when using deionised water. Do something about algae though, or it will grow and it's difficult to remove from reservoirs and things.

the two active ingreadents of feser base are antifreeze (ethylene glycol) and water wetter (ethandiol)
both don't really have a shelf life - and are toxic so nothing will 'grow' in it now opened.

As JonJ said a boicide (silver coil / nuke) is needed - don't watercool without it

Base is of some limited value imho especially in restrictive loops.
But the wetter will help increase flowrate and reduce laminar flow - it lowers surface tension.
The antifreeze will reduce corrison which happens in all loops (just VERY slowly)
IF mixed metals are in direct contact galvanic corrosion can happen.
This is rare in watercooling, but poor design AND poor fabrication can lead to issues (swiftech gtx)

I have a silver kill coil in the res. I used the corrosion blocker last time and all was well so I'd like to use it again. So I'm ok to use it even though its been opened, yes?

Thanks for info so far,

Mark

P.S. I leaked tested for 2 hours and all was well.
