Advise needed - Which cable to use?

Looking to push laptop audio and visual to TV for Netflix for the kids. This is fine when I use one laptop as it has and HDMI port. However the others don't have this so need another solution.

Can you recommend an alternative cable to use?

One laptop has a display port and I can see a display port to HDMI cables about, but are they worth it?

What inputs has your TV got? If it's a VGA monitor output (the blue one) it'll be analogue so I would be looking at a VGA to component adaptor such as:

You'll need to have a 3.5mm headphone to twin RCA for the sound.

It will depend on your exact hardware, so if you can be more specific it would be useful.
