Hi guys

Time to upgrade again.

Hearing lots of stuff about Intel and AMD CPU's and im so undecided.

Can someone suggest a CPU, MOB and Memory, no other parts needed as of yet.

Many thanks.

If that budget is just for the CPU/RAM/mobo then this is around where I'd be looking for gaming and VR:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £708.97
(includes shipping: £0.00)

You can put the extra £90 towards a 250GB NVMe drive for your OS install, or upgrade the (actually rather decent) motherboard to something more high/mid-range.

If gaming is your main concern, go for an 8700k build. It's the best overall gaming CPU available.

If you were wanting to push for very high overclock, this would be a great motherboard and RAM.

You could save some money on a cheaper motherboard, and also do expect 8700k prices to drop £~20 as stock becomes more plentiful in the coming weeks.

Also, What resolution and refresh rate are you playing at?

5760x1080

Would this system be ok at that resolution ?

Yeah, but since you have a Corsair H70 I would get a cheaper motherboard as you won't be able to keep very high overclocks at low enough temps.

You could go even cheaper on the motherboard, but I wouldn't spend less than ~£130 if you were getting an 8700k.
