Hi, I am trying to connect a subwoofer to my desktop amplifier, but I am confused as to what cables I need.

The subwoofer is a JBL Professional LSR310S

The amplifier is a Fosi audio bt30d pro

And I currently have a stereo jack to 3.5mm cable connected from my amplifier to my motherboard onboard sound.
The speakers are "Lars & Ivan BoBo Designer 2-Way 35W Passive Speakers"

Could I get some advise on what cables I need to get the subwoofer working? Any if there are any recommendations to make it sound good? I have no idea what a DAC etc is. Pictures attached.

Many thanks

Do you mean stereo 3.5mm jack to dual RCA input?

It looks like you need a 3.5mm stereo to 2x6.35mm mono to go from the "PRE OUT" connection on the amp to the jack inputs on the sub

Hi,

Yes, sorry. It's a 3.5mm jack going from the motherboard to a dual RCA input on the amplifier.
Many thanks for your advise.

I'm confused as to why the Sub has both L and R inputs, subs are generally MONO.

Looking at the pics of the little amp, I'd be using the 3.5mm pre-out to send a low level signal to the active sub...

*Maybe check the Subs manual, it might be it will work in MONO mode if you only use the left or right line inputs, rather than both.

EDIT..

looking at the back of the little amp it's odd it doesn't have a MONO RCA line out for an active sub, yet it does have +&-speaker terminals for a passive sub, as if that little thing could power a sub ;).

Presumably the 3.5mm pre-out can perform that function?

Plenty of subs have stereo inputs, if you use a stereo pre amp you'll send stereo RCA from that info the sub

the fosi has a mono sub output (phono?) to go to a powered subwoofer? If you look at the amp back panel layout on other sites? you can split this to go into the sub amp?

I can't see an RCA out on that amp, just a 3.5mm aux out...AKA for headphones.
