Ok im was recetly looking to upgrade but ive decided im going to just build a whole new system. I want a system that will be pretty good for games but also look nice under the telly.

So can somone recommend me a system (CASE (small as possible but not shuttle) psu, cpu, mobo, memory, grfx, coolers & HDD. screen and DVDrw not required)

Im looking to spend about £800-£1000 so would ideally want a DX10 ready rig and Vista in the cost.

Thanks and have fun :)

PS. dont restrict the HTPC case to OCUK range. im happy to buy that bit elsewhere. (but dont post competitors)

I'd say get a core duo, probably an E6300 or E4300. Drop it in a suitable motherboard such as a DS3 or possibly Asus P5N-E. Add 1Gb or 2gb of value RAM. Add an 8800GTS or possibly 8800GTX if funds allow. Then add into a case of your choice - probably a Silverstone Lascala of some model as they look very nice indeed.

EDIT: Most of the Lascala's take MATX format motheboards so may need to look around for an alternative motherbaord.

 x 1000. 8800 GTX for a HTPC? Slight overkill don't you think?

The problem with HTPC's is that they're supposed to be low power, low noise, low heat.

A good example of a HTPC would be a AMD 3800X2, Asus AM2, 1GB RAM, 7300GS passive Nvidia or ATI X300, 320GB hard drive, Sugo with Silverstone PSU. You can probably buy that for under £600.

The Antec NSK2400 is pretty good, £55 including PSU.

Most HTPCs also don't have that requirement, so the specs are going to be slightly higher. Maybe not 8800 higher though ;)

been thinking about this for along time now, and have always liked the looks of the origen AE cases. they look so smart ) but a tad on the pricey side. guess you SHOULD get what you pay for.

but depending on which model its either an ATX or mATX board, full sized g-card etc. should suite your needs quite well i reckon :)
