I built my current pc nearly 10 years ago with most of the parts from OcUK. It is based around an Abit Nf7-S ver 2.0 with a mobile AMD 2.5 laptop cpu. It still runs well although it does get a bit hot due to V core voltages used.
It is now time to retire the old girl but I am totally out of touch with what components to buy. In fact I built 3 of these machines with different cpus and only one has packed in due to a faulty motherboard
I am quite happy with an overclocked machine and if I say that I will spend approx £1000 on a totally new base unit please can you give me some specs to get me researching in the right direction.
Back in the day, Asus and Abit seemed lead to the way with Corsair XMS memory. I am only interested in good quality components as I would like my new pc to give me many years of service. My 12 year old son is keen on playing games and so that needs to be factored in too. I always used ATI graphics cards back then too.
