advise on type of mouse mat needed...

Ive ordered a razer lachesis which arrives shortly. Should i be careful of what type of mouse mat i use as its optical? Im looking for quite a smallish mat with a gel support for my wrist. Or can any surface type be used for an optical mouse? Any suggestions will be gladly accepted!

any surface works in my opinion. i use a cloth based bad for my optical. but no lots that dont even use mats just the desk

I have a Lachesis myself.. And have used it on a SteelSeries mat and my current Thermaltake Tai-Chi M2.. which is more than large enough.

Also I prefer the feel of the Thermaltake..and the base grip in place is excellent. Although I have to agree, any surface would do.

Even though my SteelSeries mouse mat isn't for sale on OcUK anymore..all of the others look similar

And either mouse mat would do..Razer ones too, such as the ExactMat which has an arm rest. I boguth my brother one and it's really compfy
