Advise the MB noob?

I have to admit, I don't know a lot about motherboards. Could someone explain to me the difference in performance between, say, the Asus P5W64-WS Pro Intel 975X (expensive) and the Asrock Conroe945G-DVI (cheapo). They can both take core 2's, the Asus can take twice the RAM of the Asrock, but is there anything more fundamental?

Is there a board which combines economy with reliability and performance? For the e6300, say.

Asrock Conroe, wont oc as good as the other 2 as far as i know, think the fsb max's out arond 340-360, probs b other diff, but this is the main one.

gigabyte ds3 r a very good board for that cpu + wont set u bak as much as the other conroe boards
