I purchased my Mini in July of this year 2nd hand on the Mini Cherished scheme with 15k on the clock. It now has 18.5k.
Over a month ago it developed a knocking sound coming from the transmission, which when the clutch was depressed stops. I have taken it into the dealership, and even BMW coming out to diagnose. Anyway its now had a
1) new clutch/thrust bearing.
2) another visit, modified fly wheel.
& 3) after a visit from BMW technician a new gearbox thursday, and I picked up the car this morning.
Well the noise is still apparant. Agreed its not as bad before the clutch was first replaced, but 2 & 3 a new gearbox has still not fixed the knocking noise.
I phoned the dealer again, and took the car, back and the service manager agreed it was still there. He is at a loss as to what else they can do and have said its a feature with my car.
His next action is now to get me to meet the BMW techy, but I think the problem is prob down to the tollerance of the whole drive system on the car.
What would you guys do? Would you live with this noise, or would you demand that it gets rectified?
Where do I stand as regards my rights. If they cannot resolve it, would I be in my right to ask for either another 2nd hand mini or my money back?
Much appreciated
