I have a Squeezebox I got free with a Slim Transporter and I'm considering using it as an alarm clock. If I were to buy the Aego-M 2.1s and leave them powered up permanently at a fairly high volume are they going to drain loads of power and make a lot of noise?

By noise I mean the low-level hum you get when a source is turned off. I will be using the Squeezebox remote so the volume on the speakers will not be touched usually. I can't find any speakers that automatically enter a standby mode so this may be my only option.

I was lucky. When I tried to order it the offer had officially ended but I found one of the UK suppliers was still offering the free Squeezebox. I've just checked and they have ended the offer now too.

The Super T-Amp does not have remote functionality so I would have to leave that powered on as well if I went that route. If I could find a small good quality amp with remote control that would definitely be a better idea.
