Aego M cable and connection questions

Just received my Aego M's yesterday and they sound fantastic.

I connected them to the X-Fi s/c using the cable with the minijack > phono (red and white) is that correct?

I was expecting to use the cable with two gold minijacks like my old Creative 250D used.

What is the hole underneath the volume knob, it looks like a minijack socket?

There is also another cable with 2 bare wires (red and white) with a black phono one end and on the other end 2 phono plugs (red and white) what is this used for?

Any help with these questions would be much appreciated?

Andy

PS sorry for being a complete numpty but the manual isnt the best.

same boat as u mate . i seem to have a lot of cable left over as well .well i would like to stick something in that hole but it might go BANG :D

hehe, yeah i dying to poke something in that hole at the front, but worried about the consequences, it not like its a bird where the worst that can happen is you end up with a baby, we are talking about potential damage to a serious piece of kit :p

i've got the aego too, and it's a mystery to me what the front hole is for- i tries some headphones in there, but the main speakers failed to mute and there was no sound, so i guess it's not that... awesome speakers though! i guess the neighbours don't agree ;)
