Just bought a set of these, really happy with them but have noticed the satellites have a hiss/static noise to them. Enough that I can hear it slighty with them in front of me (and even more so with my ear next to them).

This is without any input plugged into them and it doesn't change inline with the volume on the sub. Is this normal?

Is only audible when the speakers are at max volume? or can it be heard at whatever volume level the speakers are set to?

When there is no signal, the amplifier will amplify any noise. It should only become quite audible when the volume on the speakers themselves is increased.

Hmm, you shouldn't be able to hear it at low volume levels, only when the volume is increased. At any volume, can you hear any hiss while sound is coming from the speakers?

You could send AE an email, tell them you are getting a hiss from the speakers when there is no signal, regardless of the speakers volume, see what they say. I have no experience of the Aego M's, but of the speakers I have used over the years, I have never noticed a hiss when the speakers are at low volume with no signal, only when the volume knob is increased, and they were all cheap compared to the Aego's.

There are a few users on here with the Aego's, they should be able to say if it's a common thing with the Aego's, or if there maybe a fault.

My wife and I both have a set on our PCs and there is no hiss at regardless of volume level.

Also, they certainly would NOT have been so highly recommended on these forums if they had a persistent hiss.

i have a pair - no hiss.
you should re-check all the connections.

Nothing is plugging into them. Just the sub and 2 satellites and I've checked those connections.

They are plugged into a surge protector, maybe I'll try it without later (although I highly doubt this would make any difference!).

Mine have a slight hiss at medium - high volume, but when the pc they are connected to boots up the hiss is completely gone. :(

No difference plugged straight into the mains.

Not sure it's an issue as such, I can probably tune it out over time! But if they are faulty obviously I'll follow it up...

Just got an email from AE technical support

Yes it is entirely normal to have some hiss when because the amplifier is still engaged when the system is on,even when no music is playing .
