seems to be a real performance draw on my X1900XT - is that normal ?

I run at 1900x1200 (Dell 24 inch monitor) - and 2x AA is fine - but anything above about 2xAF and I get stutters - which are really annoying.

I've noticed this in other games too.

any ideas to why AF gives this stutter/performance loss ?

AF on my previous card used to almost be for "free" - and you could use 16x regularly.

thanks, Makr.

512MB on the X1900XT

2 gig RAM under vista

have been considering going up to 4 gig - but on checking RAM usage in FSX etc - it doesn't seem to all get used up as it is ?

previous card was a X800XT or something

was at lower res's etc

I just remembered in the past that AA was a major headache - but AF you could almost get away with 16x most of the time

X1900XT really doesn't seem to like it at all

FSX ....

Bioshock etc I play on my 360 :)

so bascially my card hasn't the b/width for this high a res ?

2900XTs are quite reasonable now ....

I thought FSX was a computer nasty game in general... maybe someone browsing this with a higher spec will give an opinion with FSX.

FS-X is a VERY demanding game.

I play FS-X with max ingame with 50% autogen/flights etc and its fine @ 1600x1200 with ingame AA and AF... about 15-30+ FPS...

X1900XTX @ 709/845....
