Now, ive been watching some videos and I am baffled at how silent the fans are for people. I know you cant get an exact representation of what they sound like, but god damn. One of mine is easily the loudest component. No, its the loudest thing in the room (except the speakers). My mechanical keyboard is quieter than the fan.

Whats strange is that i bought two of the AF140 QE LEDs and one is silent, the other is loud as hell.

I then check my BIOS on the speeds and the quiet one is run at 700RPM and the loud one is run at 1100RPM.

I am extremely confused as to why this is happening. Is it just the LED version that is loud?

I have 5 AFs in my case, 3x120 and 2x140. Cant really hear them but one of the 120s have a noticeable noise between certain RPM range. The other 2 make no noise. I am getting that one replaced as I only got them recently, clearly a faulty one.

5! One AF140 is louder than 4 Scythe GTs and the AF140L all ran at 7Vs!
I might ask for a RMA through Corsair. I just cant believe one fan can make this much noise.

Is one PWM managed and the other duty cycle/full speed in the BIOS? often on motherboards there are 1-3 fan headers that have PWM control and will adjust the speed of the fan depending on the system temperature and the other headers are manually controlled via the BIOS and run at full speed on default.

Ive checked the BIOS and i cant find anything that can change the voltage. Seeing as theyre not PWM, it cant be something to do with that.

I have switched them round, and they then swap places respectively in terms out loudness. So its either they are both faulty or everyone is genuinly deaf. Thats how loud they are.

+ that makes we not understand why one header halves the RPM when all others dont.
