AF7 fan. Necessary?

Hey guys, got an Antec 900 and an Arctic Freezer 7 pro cpu cooler.

Whilst putting the mobo et al back in after a dust clear out (the ONE disadvantage to my 900 ) I broke the fan's mounting clips, and had to tape it to the heatsink instead. Just took it off altogether though, turned the rear 120mm case fan up to full whack and theres zero difference in temps.

So are cpu cooler fans really necessary at all?

Have you looked at the temps under full load?

lol. Its actually lower. With the fan attached and facing the exhaust 120mm case fan, Core Temp recorded temps between 48-52.

Without the fan thats now 46-50. Not a huge difference, but surprising. (Tested under Orthos for the past hour).
