Affordable AV receiver 4k / 120hz

Doing some light research the Yamaha RX-V4A seems the one which fits the budget and has updates available for 4k / 120hz. Upon my research I found it has rolled out the updates but there's news some AV receivers need to be replaced due to a failed update somewhere and Yamaha will be contacting those users. There's a lot of talk on AV forums but if anyone can summarise how its been handled and if its worked for most of them?

Is it worth my time to keep an eye out on this if I can get my hands on one or should I be looking at other models which will push my budget a bit more.

Not a solution for the chip updates but a workaround until the dust settles; if your TV supports 4K 120Hz then does it also support eARC?

If so, connect the gaming source to the TV first and use eARC to pass HD audio to an AV Receiver with eARC support too. You'll have all the audio features you would have going the other route of console > AMP > TV.
