Does anyone have any info on when the successor to the 8800 will be coming out, or any info at all on the subject. I find info like this a nightmare to come across on the internet. (hope someone doesnt point me to nvidia homepage or something where theres a massive sign i missed) :)

but then will they sit about and make budget 8 series cards and/or work on series 9 right away?

Its not exactly related to this thread but i didnt really want to create a new one so here it goes.

DirectX 10 is new you need new cards. Do you think direct x 11 will just be an update. Just like DirectX 7,8 and 9 they were just software updates if you see what i mean. lol

The mid-range 8 series (8600/8500 etc..) cards have been delayed due to Nvidia having to re-spin, they were supposed to be out on the 17th April, but are now delayed, however if they keep the 17th April as the release then it will be paper launch ala ATi's x1800, as you wont be able to get hold of one for months. :)

Actually i think i read the 8800 Ultra was coming out with the mid-range cards (April 17th), so i wonder if that may come out on its own that date now, but as said no one knows for definate as everything is rumours. :)
