After a free ware strategy game

Hi guys

I'm looking for a freeware strategy game to play on my laptop. It doesn't need to be too polished but something thats a fun way to kill a bit of time.

I have Civ 4 and Planetside and other favourites on my desktop but I'm looking for something I can take a little less seriously.

Any reccomendations greatefully recieved.

Try FreeCiv - I used to have it on my work PC.

OpenTTD?

Not sure if it qualifies as strategy as such. But it's definitely a sim/management game.

Although I'd read about this before, I downloaded it tonight whilst I had a chance and it's superb! Really polished, and only have a few niggles so far. This has just kept me off Rainbow Six Vegas 2 which arrived today.

Just wanted to add it's brilliant.
