Ok I have the camcorder sorted! Panasonic x920

Am now looking for a decent camera that doesnt cost the earth!

I would say my budget is around £200-£300 and happy to look for a used one to get more for my money

Thats great thanks... How are the new nokia breed of phones compared to half decent cameras?.. I always have my phone with me so thinking for slightly lessor quality (hopefully?) it might be the better choice

Phone cameras have gotten better, but optically you are never going to match something that has a proper lens on it, along with a proper zoom. Its therefore down to the convenience factor as to whether you want a compact camera or to just use your phone.

Another vote for the RX100 if you can get it at that price.

Also if you are considering a phone, and portability is really what you are after with good IQ, the Canon S100/S110 is also on my compact list
