Looking to kill some time on a strategy game, played the demo of C&C3 and didn't really like it so wanted some other suggestions, perhaps more along the lines of an empire type building game.

Like said above, Medieval 2: TW is one of my favourite games. If you're looking for something more slow paced then you can't beat Civilisation which is my favourite game of all time ;)

Civ 4
Birth of the federation (star trek)
Homeworld games (good strategy)
Age of empires games (2 + exp is best)
Space Empires V

For me its in this order

1) MTW2: the game has some slight problems but the scope of the game is just amazing

2) COH: is a great game to play, my one mate lives this game now i showed it to him, runs down the street checking for cover

3) Civ 4; Great until the last 200 years, goes down hill rapidly

and say goodbye to all your waking hours

and the OcUK alliance is in the top 20 :D

I was on the speed server and in the top 500 and part of the top alliance. Then I had to go on holiday for 2 weeks. That game is horrible :(

My sitter abandoned my account after a few days, it stopped growing and fell from 500 to 7,000th place. Now its been kicked from the alliance and is getting farmed to oblivion. Deleting it and starting again, maybe I can control a little chunk of the newer lands further out.

COH

Civ series

Hmm i havn't really got into Civ4

Just doesnt feel the same compared to civ3 which is a brilliant game

Civ2! so much better then the newer boys.
i tell you, u can spend weeks on that without breaking a sweat.

Indeed, was the best

but ive grown to love civ3

i might have to give civ3 + 4 ago as u mention it.. i always felt civ2 was 'quick' though, loading and watnots i mean, rather then the playing of it. the newer games i find are slower jsut because of all the fancy graphics. not what you want in a civ building game :P
