More than enough power. Nice spec. Why on earth do you need 8GB of ram though?

I probably don't ! Thought it would future proof me a little bit. It would be best to use the same sort of ram and that might be tricky if I upgrade at a later date.

i would change motherboard to asus maximus formula i know it is more expensive but you get stalker and 3dmark06 pro it surely compensates extra 40£

better overcloking i guess just generally really good mob to

edit : i upgraded from p5k deluxe to x38 and founded that they are really good.

X38 also give Pcie 2.0 slots which will future proof you for a bit.

Pcie 2.0 is being used by the new 8800 GT not sure about new GTS. But will likley be used in the new 9800 range of nvidia cards.

Thanks mogwai, I see that PCIe 2.0 can transfer data at twice the speed of PCIe 1.x. Is that really going to make much difference ? Moving from 4Gb/s to 8Gb/s on paper ?

All looks good except the 8 gig of Ram.

To be honest, by the time you need 8 gig, just sell your old 4 gig kit and get a new 8 gig one!

You are also planning (probably by the looks of it) to Overclock the machine, so therefore I would get this Ram:

Will that ram work ok in the P5k Premium m/b ?

The keyboard I'm looking at is USB, yet the m/b has a ps/2 keyboard socket. Will the USB keyboard work ok in the BIOS ?

Yeah will work fine though you may have to turn the option on in the bios, a lot of USB keyboards come with a ps/2 converter thing so you should be alright
