Just got a new TV t'other day, and got given a (crappy) cheap bluray player for my HTPC. but i have no software for playing blu-rays.

Is there any preferably free, or at least cheap software you guys use or can recommend?

My HTPC is currently using Win7 (64bit) but im debating trying out a linux based OS (like XMBC) - so anything on either platform.

I dont own loads of blu-rays so it probably wont get used a lot - hence wanting it to be as cheap as possible.

Im not exactly sure what the brand/model is - i'd take it out and have a look but its not particularly accessible at the moment (the case is a mess and underneath my TV).

I have toyed with the idea of playing with VLC - but i kinda wanted something straight forward i could just install and it'd work. i dont mind paying a small amount (maybe £10 - £20) but i'd prefer not too if there's a free alternative.
