Wondering about this setting guys, playing a few games earlier and noticed my top card hitting as high as 79c. Normally 65c with heating off in the house. Is this temp limit a throttle point? I know that at 70c the core clock will drop by 13mhz, but curious as to what this limit setting is. Running a 1-1 fan profile. 1 slot gap between the cards.

The clock/voltage will go down to keep the temperature from going over the limit, so the card won't boost as much.
Ahh, cheers. The top card does max at 1124 mhz, but i did see it drop to 1110 mhz. Not too bad then. Ill try bodge mounting a fan to try and get some of the hot air out from between both cards.

You can raise the temp limit to what you want. I had my 770s limit at 84c. Even though the top card never went above 80.

Ive set the temp limit to 84c and adjusted my fan curve a little, temps down a few c. Gonna go with a ghetto mod ive used before that works well with non ref cards in sli.

My patent free ghetto sli cooling mod.

Used to cool x2 wf 670's in my old Z77 setup.

Ha very nice :D

I wonder if doing that would lower my temps some on my single 780 Classy?

I have a spare fan laying around.

Hope it works :) Otherwise i'd look at possibly a side fan to suck out some of that hot air if you already have good airflow or feed more cold in if your in need of more air

Wish I could have my side fan on. I had to cut the bracket and everything on my panel just so I could fit my Notcua NH-D14 heatsink. :(

It dropped 5c of the top card in that old setup, though in that pic it shows a 120mm fan. A 140mm worked better. The case was a bitfenix shinobi xl which was rubbish for airflow. Now on a Phanteks enthoo primo so id have to cut the side window to mount a fan there. Cooling is.

Front, x2 120mm intake
Hdd cages, 2x 120mm blowing onto cards
Bottom, 1x 120mm intake
Rear, 1x 140mm exhaust
Top, 2x 120mm exhaust.

If I were you setter, I'd be looking for the cause of the sudden temp increase rather than trying to reduce it. 15C is a lot to suddenly go up by. Check all the fans are spinning and also ensure that the fan profile in AB is being stuck too.

All fans running ok, (case, cooler and gpu's). I had been getting messages popping up that AB was out of date, so udated to the latest version but kept my settings. This is the only change ive made.

15c is such a massive jump that something wasn't working before or something isn't working now.

Well there is always water. Rufus has been quiet recently about his build.

Are you blowing air into the case or removing hot air with that rear fan? I am using 2 non ref 780's and was under the impression they vent out a bit at the back? Would using that as an intake not work against the cards exhaust?
