So I remembered a handy app/extension for MSI afterburner, I'd told greg about it a week ago and said he couldn't figure it out, so at a guess others may struggle too....SO A guide to hopefully help get it all set up and smooth!
What do you need?
MSI Afterburner (windows)
MSI Afterburner App - Available on ipad/iphone and any android device with 2.1 or later via relevant app stores.
MSI Afterburner Remote Server (windows)
http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/app03.htm
Got everything installed? Windows side
Good, leave your phone/tablet to one side just now, we won't need it just yet
First things first, open up Afterburner, make sure you have it set to monitor what you want on your device, these options are found where you set OSD settings, what you monitor in AB will mirror to the smart phone
Extract the folder from the remote server download, should contain 3 files, just double click "MSIAfterburnerRemoteServer.exe". Nothing happened? Think again, it just opens straight to tray where it belongs
Pop open the task bar and find the green MSI icon, LEFT CLICK, you'll be greeted with a pop up bubble as so:
IGNORE the top IP, its not required, take note of the bottom IP, if needed take a screen shot.
On the Phone/Tablet!
Once noted, open the AfterBurner APP on your smart device, the home screen should greet you with 3 options...
Overclock
Monitor
Settings
Open Settings>Host IP Address and type in the IP we took note of above.
Now go back to the home screen of the APP, click Monitor/overclock and you should now be seeing a nice simple version of AB on your phone/Tablet!!
IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!
Depending on what firewall etc... you're using, the remote server may be getting blocked, try disable firewalls first, then if required add exceptions. It may also be possible your router is blocking the port chosen by the remote server, to find what port is being used on the remote server look at the last digits after the colon, so 192.168.1.74:80 would be port 80!
Why is this useful?
I don't see the OC side of it all that much use, but it is very handy for monitoring, especially in games that the OSD doesn't work in i.e. BF4!! It also works on any card that supports MSIAB monitoring and any device that has an available afterburner app!!
