Age of Conan beta - is it to late to join ?

Well I applied via the form, but I am more than likely guessing I have left it to late and my first taste of the game will be when it is offically releases /sad
 
The open beta closed today so they could ready the servers for the early access full release next saturday, not sure about he closed beta.
 
I think closed beta comes before open beta so if the open beta servers are closing, then the game is almost ready for P2P launch.

Shame, i never got into the beta, guess ill have to try it for a month and see what its likes.

Can anyone (who played the beta) tell me how the games plays in terms of hard ware?

I assume a Q6600 @3GHZ 4GB of ram should be fine ? I am a little worried about my 8800 GTS 320MB. I play on a 24" @1920, so obviously a little worried I might need to lower res.

I want to get a new card, but not to keen at the moment since ATI seem to be readying their new cards... I really would like to get the 4xxx series..
 
I played it on my system in my sig...

1680x1050

full everything (DX9 full AA) getting about 25-40 FPS - In the starting areas.

But not forgetting that the Closed beta client - one i've been on has. a lot of debugging happening in the background. So release client should be better on the computer side of things.
 
I feel i could do with a tad more power than my GT is giving me, i was running DX9 with 4xAA on normal settings, ranging from 25 - 80fps.

I wouldnt mind a faster card for DX10, but not sure what to buy also with the ATI cards looming.
 
In the open beta i could only get 25 fps at lowest settings at 1024x768 in window mode :(

as quoted ^, the graphics card is holding you back but is still an acceptable frame rate, if it bothers you then i would recommend upgrading.

9600/8800gts's can be had cheap now.
 
idd, you're using a completely gimped card which im shocked manages 25fps.
I had a 320GTS in the beta though it was only at 1280x1024, found the game somewhat dull and didnt interest me though.
 
What amazed me in this game is that it looks good even at the lowest resolution.
Unlike other games you dont need to get highest rez to see your whole character, you can it whole in nice distance + more even at the lowest resolution.
And the game just looks sweet even at it if you max out everything else.


The last patch in open beta fixed a lot of issues for me and people from my guild that played closed beta said that it runs a lot better than the open ( which actually already runned well).

I played with mostly [email protected], 2gb GeiLs at 880mhz 4-4-4-12 and HD3870XT not clocked.

1440x900 8xAA, 16x AF, bloom and was runnig well apart from that the client was still bit unstable with memory leaks and stuff.

So I guess any machine with cpu about 3ghz, 4gb of good ram and card about 8800gts more-less quality will be able to play official release client at pretty much everything maxed out ( might need to ton down for sieges tho ;]).
