Ok, my friend is really in to age of conan, and I am building him a system soon based on:

E2180
4GB of ram
8800 GT 512MB

Will the GT @ 1440x900 run the game with everything maxed at a high FPS? I am running at 1920x1200 on my 8800 GTS 320MB and need to tone a few things down because of how demanding the game is.

I want to get a new GPU too, but am going to buy the new cards... people have any experiences with the game at that res + card ?

(ideal settings would be AF at max, 2xAA, all other settings to max).

Well, remember my friend is only running 1440x900, and the card is for him...

The 1920x1200 is my monitor, and the 320MB obviously struggles at that, but am waiting for the new cards to come out /taps foot because they are taking an age.

a GT performs far better than a GTS 320

i'd wait before you buy though, prices may well drop when new cards are out.

I know a gt performs better... maybe I am not making myself clear ?

My friend currently has an old system, which he is running AOC on (bady) and wants to upgrade. I am building him a C2D 4GB of ram system, and he wanted a 100 or so pounds GPU.

I am running a 8800 GTS 320 at 1920x1200, and have to turn a few settings down to below max (mostly shadows) but just wanted to check that an 8800 GT at 1440x900 could max everything out, including shadows, and have a high FPS, in other words very smooth.

I run a Q6600, 4GB of ram currently with my 8800 GTS 320 MB, and want to upgrade it to the next gen cards (the GT 2x0 series or the AT 4xxx series) so am waiting.

My mistake, I think I was explaining poorly because I was needing to go out when I made the original post.

Pretty sure it is due to the graphics and enviroment size... it is basically around as good looking as oblivion, but with a lot more random little graphical touches.

EIther way, I am not just upgrading for 1 game so :P

After playing on my 9800 esque clocked 8800GTS @ 1920 on high it ran @ 30fps. so no youre looking at more of a medium graphics @ 60fps style perf with the 8800GT

But my *FRIEND* is the one going to be buying /using the 8800 GT, and he games at 1440x900.

I am not even buying another 8800 card from my current 8800 GTS 320MB, I am waiting for the new cards
