Couldn't find a thread. Just saw this on Steam today, anyone picked it up or played in the beta? Gameplay looks very nice from the trailer on Steam. Love my strategy games but dropping £29.99 on this immediately without reviews is asking a bit much.

Looks very tempting!

I used to hate turn-based RTS games (stuck to C&C, Company Of Heroes, AOE etc), but after spending some time with Civ 5 and XCOM Enemy Unknown recently, I've come to love them.

I shall definitely wait for reviews though and hopefully there will be some cheap Steam keys on the myriad of CDKey sites :D

This is nearing release - 31/3.

Ive never played any of the previous AoW series, but it looks like a pretty nice remake of the Microprose classic Master of Magic.

Will wait pending reviews, but if its any good I will definitely be picking it up.

It's excellent!

I've never tried the previous two and knew nothing about it before reading a review on RPS.

It's a solid turn-based combat / strategy game with RPG elements (e.g. if you win a battle and find armour, you can equip it on your heroes). Graphics are excellent, sound and music nice, and it's easy to get into.

It appears to have TONS of depth, but it's introduced quite pleasantly.

Recommend you all take a look. I couldn't find it cheaper than £29.99 though, other than on some dodgy-looking Steam Key sites.

Enjoying it, but it could really do with a better tutorial, if you where new to the genre it would be incredibly confusing.

Loved the 1st 3 games in this series .sank plenty if hours into them.so what do people think of this so far then.im tempted by it at the moment .has anyone seen any reviews or good gameplay videos .want to have more of a look before I jump in :)

I've only scratched the surface of what this game has to offer and I'm quite impressed.

What I liked:
- Battles. Most units can be used in multiple ways and each has unique features. There are always several possible actions to consider, usually making blind moves a bad idea;
- Complexity. There are tones of abilities, upgrades, perks etc. Even the basic units have a list of characteristics, not to mention higher level ones or heroes.
- The general feel of the game. A mix of AoW and Heroes of Might and Magic III - I love and often still play these games.

A few minuses:
- The town buildings seem a bit generic (increases resource generation/access to troops/upgrade troops).
- The game doesn't feel "smooth" to me but maybe that's due to playing it on a notebook that's starting to show its age.

Hmm, from the sounds of it this may be worth getting.

Big fan of the genre (total war, HOM&M, X-Com, Civilisation etc) - looks pretty straightforward for the type so should be worth a punt.

It reminds me a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic (which isnt a bad thing IMO). I also really like the fact you get a hero unit roster in addition to the faction unit roster. So a dreadnaught hero can produce the same dreadnaught units regardless of being Human, Elf etc.

I can see me spending a fair amount of time on this game.
