Same, as far as I'm concerned. Saw the email this morning and thought it looked fake. Barely use Game Pass these days so will likely never need to worry about age verification.

Got another email from Microsoft this morning reminding me that I need to do this or come early 2026 I won't be able to use the social side of Xbox such as voice / text features and game invites, yet the main thing is access to any games / dlc / achievements won't be blocked.
Doesn't bother me as I don't buy games on xbox or use game pass.

I received another email this morning, too. Like you, not bothered about going through age verification as it's unlikely I'll be engaging with the social features on Xbox anyway.

Once people are verified for social features I’m sure they’ll extend it to other things. If they don’t apply it to game age ratings then it just proves it’s more about tracking than safety.

Basically, it worked! We're enjoying smutty Baldur's Gate 3 fanfics on Discord again. Not that we couldn't anyways, we're all 18 or older here. Nor are we telling you to circumvent these restrictions. Adult content is for adults.
Should have used the harder to hack checks like the ones on Pronhub.
- User selects “Verify by credit card” (3DS) as the verification method.
- Redirected to Probiller billing UI.
- Inputs required:
- Credit card number
- CVV
- Expiry date
- Name and billing address
- User clicks “Verify Now” to trigger a £0 authorization.
- Probiller initiates a 3DS challenge with the card issuer.
- Users complete the challenge, e.g. via one-time-password (OTP) or via app.
- If result indicates 18+, APT flags user as verified.
Had the same through as well, my Xbox account is 20 years old this year. Surely they'd put a bit of logic into this and realise if an account is over 18 years old it's probably best not to email that user...
Maybe there are protecting against time travelling under 18's!
"Not being smart enough" is probably the correct answer, but I guess they could be guarding against anyone doing pre-aged accounts somehow - like people selling MORPG accounts with credit and stuff. Just cannot see how selling an email account, or xbox account is even possible though.
