Ok since around christmas eve my routers connection to the internet keeps dropping out! Some times it will stay connected for like 6 hours and then sometimes it will go through phases of constantly dropping in and out. When it does drop out it connects again within a minute or so, but as you can imagine it can get annoying when playing games online or downloading stuff.

My service provider is orange and i have tried it on both my Livebox and linksys router using both wireless and lan connection and it still happens!

Any ideas or is this simply a BT line or Orange server problem?

I used to be with orange and got frequent disconnects all the time, couldnt work out what it was but in the end even though I was getting it free I left and am now paying for a nice fast and reliable virgin connection
Sory that doesnt really help you, but at least youre not alone, lol

Thats the thing i am getting it free with my phone contracts. For the last 18 months nothing like this has happened though. Its been perfect, no problems. But all of a sudden its been rubbish for the last week.

You should have a 'Sync' light on your router, does that start to flash when it drops out? If it does, there are a few things that could cause it;

- Is your router connected to the master socket or using extension cables?
- Environmental issues, can be as small as something like street lights coming on. Does it only happen at specific times of the day or completely random?
- Have you tried swapping filters?

Only other option would be to contact your ISP if the router is indeed dropping sync. They will however ask you to test at the master socket with no extension cables, and everything else unplugged for testing, so you may as well get it out of the way first ;)

Micro filters are notorious for becoming faulty, it's always worth swapping them over if you're experiencing line drop outs (related to sync)
