Might pass the time for some people.

Got until 22/7/09 to activate your free 14 days, starts from the moment you log into your game account.

ive just rejoined tonight a lot of improvements apparently including DX10 this game has got a lot of Criticism by imo its very good.

I have a existing account and character that i used for another trial, is it possible to use the trial on that account/character?

aye, my 52 demonologist awaits me, I thought that was quite an achievement getting that far into the grind :D.

I reactivated, graphics performance is quite improved and combos are easier to pull off. The people still playing are nice and friendly too, all the whiners quit long ago.

Not finding the same. It's stuttery now where a year ago it wasn't and our guild city still has phantom walls / npcs.

I'm still rubbish but that's a given.

Gonna give it another cpl of hours tonight but am not hopeful :)

I played the trial, and I think this game was good fun, it looked very nice, the character creation was very good.

The intro was good fun and the opening quests were alright, I didn't get very far in to the game so I can't comment on that.

The combat is awful.
The only thing that really let the game down.

its a great game for the first 20 levels or so then it kinda loses its appeal, well to me it did, i was never sure where to go, its like there wasnt a clear quest line to take you to a new area, unless i wasnt reading things right.

I thought the combo system is pretty nice, but the constant hitting a key to attack is a bit annoying. (I mean for auto swings) and the shield / defence thing is a bit

But overall I like the game, using my 14 day thing to attempt it again after I cancelled last year. So far I don't think I will resub, but it has at the least killed a few hours.

So they actually added content beyond the opening town now?

I remember naively jumping into this game with some friends who said it'd be the best thing ever just to be burnt.

heh i found the opposite it couldnt be any more direct - as long as you talk to the quest givers every ten levels you'll go to another couple of open areas and a few more dungeons open up its very tiered and linear.

what i liked about ffxi when i played it was the places could have low lvl creatures 1 end and really high lvl creaturese the other end of the same area - it made exploring real dangerous and fun - havent seen that since, kind of getin bored with the linearity go to a different place every 10 lvls of most mmorpgs.

I'm surprised at the folks saying they don't like the combat, I find it's its strongest feature:) (even though it's a pale shadow of the system they originally had in the closed beta)

It was intended to be very directed, but the problem is that if you stay in an area slightly too long the linking quest to send you to the next place goes white, so the quest-giver no longer has an exclamation mark over his head and a lot of people miss them. Still, I found there's plenty of content, I honestly found the complaints some people made that they had to grind villas to get to the next level range unjustifiable. There's not a huge amount of content, but there's enough.

hmm it's not as if you really need a linking quest though. when you warp back to your home city to sell something or whatever a few levels before the next tier then talk to the wagoneer to go back out again you'll just see a new area you can travel to.

To add some content to my above post my char is lvl 74. I have ground the villas and the cannibal caves a fair bit to get that far :) The tiers opened up well for the early levels but it certainly dries up after that. Gonna have my fourth and probably final go with my free trial tonight and see how I get on.
