My mate has a few year old PC which has onboard graphics. He wants to buy as cheap a PC card (AGP) as possible to play some pc games. Will this one play most of the games out at the mo (Not with full settings!!):

Nvidia 6200A 256MB DDR2 heatsink DVI VGA TVOut AGP Graphics Card

Try and define a budget for us. Gives a starting point.

Cheapo AGP cards these days wont play that much at all, well anything recent anyway. 2nd hand market might be the best bet.

I would recommend the x1950 Pro AGP but its not exactly in the 'cheap' bracket.

Definitely try to get a 2nd hand card then. As that will likely play todays games at low details at 640x 480 ok i would imagine - not overly impressive.

I'd recommend getting a second hand card.

I think I paid £40 for my 9700 Pro a few months ago, only to find a few 9800 Pro's up for the same price just a few days later!

For £30 you should get a second user 6600GT which is a fair card for light gaming

Just need to check he had a AGP 4x or 8x socket and not the early 2x spec which ran at a higher voltage.

What card and mobo does he have?

Just added an Asus 7600GS 256MB to my AGP system, along with 2GB RAM (now got 2.5GB)

very happy with it, BF2 runs much better! :)

6600GT or 7600GS second hand should do ya, but look about... you may be able to get better if your careful on auction site...
