Hi,

We've just upgraded my parents PC with some spare bits from when I upgraded mine, but the video card is really holding it back. The specs are - P4 2.4, 1.5GB ddr333, 9600 Pro 128 mb (200/400). I know the CPU isn't great but the 9600 Pro is far worse, so we need a new AGP card. Looking on OcUK -

X1600 Pro 512mb for £93 with 12 pipes and speeds of 500/800, so that's gonna be not far off X800 Pro speed.

7600 GS OC for £111 (pre-order) with 12 pipes and speeds of 420/800 which from benchmarks seems to be quicker than the X1600 Pro.

I can probably pick up an X800 Pro or 6800 GT new for around £100-120 too off ebay (with warranty), or about £80 maybe used.

I've also seen an X1600 Pro 512 mb for £73 elsewhere.

Compared to the X1800 XT I've just put in my PC for £160, none of these are great value, but that's the price of needing an AGP card I guess. Any opinions on what's the right card to go for here, or anything I've missed? Seems to me the 6800GT would be the quickest, but it's probably gonna be £40 more than I've seen an X1600 Pro for.

My parents PC also has a crappy Q-Tec 500W (...but only 18A on the +12V rail) PSU so anything that's going to need lots of juice is out, at least until I can get a proper PSU for it.

Any and all help much appreciated,
Simon.
