hey.. first post, so bare with me.

I got £170 to spend....

But i can spend it all on an AGP graphics card because i need a new power supply unit.

Im a bit out of touch with graphics card's and computer hardware in general, so what would be my best option for a new AGP graphics card?

My computer specs are:

AMD 2800+ Barton
1GB 3200 ram
120GB harddrive
3 80mm fans
dvd writer and cd writer

yea, i have a 9800Pro now, but the molex connector poll has melted..

so i assume i need to get a new graphics card... i dont neccesarily need it to b fast, my 9800Pro played all the games that i play fine. But at the mo, i cant play any because its naffed..

i was looking at this:

HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X1600 Pro ICEQ 512MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI - Price: £81.95 (£96.29 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or

Sapphire X1600 Pro 256MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-116-SP) - Price: £74.95 (£88.07 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or

Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-122-SP) - Price: £109.95 (£129.19 Including VAT at 17.5%)

which one :/

The X800GTO is the quickest card out of those, performing similar to an X800Pro so a fair bit quicker than the X1600Pro

The X1600Pro will be comparable in performance to your 9800Pro - get the 256MB version though as it's not quick enough to use the extra ram on the 512MB version. Then again, it's only £8 more for the 512MB with the fancy cooling

If your 9800Pro is fast enough for you then I'd save the £30 and get the X1600Pro. I'd still be tempted to spend the extra money and make it a decent upgrade, so I'd get the X800GTO

You should be able to get a 9800Pro for about £45 second hand - worth considering

Thank you very much, very helpful :)

I did some research and the only reason why i would pick that 512 x1600 was because of the cooling, as i read it doesnt improve things much.

Mayaswell try a new graphics card rather than just buying another 9800pro, although it served me well and second hand can sometimes be more problamatic.

Conclusion:

Taking your advice, im going to splash out on a X800GTO.

Now i need to decide on a power supply link to that thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17601537

U can see the connector for power on the right, well one of the polls in there has melted... (not completely) and also every time i conncet up a new power cable, it melted the ones inside that..lol

I can only assume its my stupid standard psu..
