AGP Graphics cards

Hi folks

My graphics card at the moment is an Nvidia AGP 6600GT. I am thinking of upgrading but are any of the 7 series of the Nvidia graphics card AGP? Unfortunately I have AGP and PCI slots no PCI express or whatever it is

If so what would you recommend upgrading too?

Yes there are a few 7800series cards in AGP form, the 7800gs that most companies make is about equivalent to a 6800ultra or maybe slightly faster but the Gainward 7800gs/gt cards are better as they are full 78/7900gt cores depending on which model you get.

Budget, I'd probably go up to £200.

If I do upgrade to a 78/7900 as Semi-pro waster has suggested (thanks by the way) would I see better preformance, better graphics to warrant the expense.

This was my opinion too.

When the missus asked for a new graphics card, rather than drop £200+ on an AGP card I bought an X1800XT a PCI-E mobo and a S939 A64. If you already have a S939 A64 chip it would make much more sense to just buy a PCI-E mobo and PCI-E graphics card.

Even if you don't have a S939 CPU I'd still say upgrade to PCI-E. You can sell your current mobo, CPU and graphics card for more than the difference between buying an AGP card and upgrading to PCI-E whole hog.
