Hi all...

Right so I have an AMD X2 4800, 2Gb Ram, 6800GT 256mb and run at 1680x1050. I also have a Corsair 620w PSU.

I mainly play wow at the above resolution and would like to have everything turned on if possible... (I may also play a few other fps games but not much)

So I currently have a 6800GT card which runs wow fairly ok when using the NGO drivers (no AA though).

I am just wondering should I purchase another AGP graphics card at the end of august when I have some cash which should keep me going for another year or so - can poeple recommend which to buy... it looks like the Radeon 1950XT is probably the best performance wise but I cant find any in stock :(. So any recommendations? ATI or NVidia I dont mind...

Or do I just save for the next 6 months and upgrade everything.... which as we all know costs more hehehe

Thanks in advance for any help :D

The upgrade costs might not be as much as you think. An e2160, P35 mobo and 8800 card and some RAM would be about £400, then if you sell your existing stuff asap it should bring in 100-150. Say £250-£300 for a full upgrade - worth it I say.

Hehe yeah I thought that initially but firstly I dont really sell my old stuff, I just have it as a second pc just incase :D

And once I started specing a system as I always do I went overboard just to make sure it would last a while so it ended up being a Quad Core Intel cpu with 4Gb ram and a nice 8800 card hehe think it worked out at about £700+ and its not really worth me doing a partial upgrade to want to upgrade that again soon....

I just thought the faster AGP cards might give me a boost for a little while...

Thanks for the reply though :D

Yeah a pro or XT should last a bit seen as theres no new games, theres only Bioshock coming next month which either of those cards shoud handle, as the Recommended card is only a 7900 GT, and the others are more towards the end of the year, so you have a bit of time yet. :)

i thought Bioshock and Crysis are directx10 games? or are they directx 9 and 10?

Be absolute suicide doing games Dx10 only when that market is still very, very small, there wont be all that many ppl out there with a Dx10 card and Vista, and i doubt anyone could do a Dx10 only game yet, as they would make a huge, huge loss on it, games will be both for a long, long time to come yet.

Crysis could be November, or next year now to, so there isn't really much coming i don't think, i only know of Bisoshock (August), Crysis (if it comes this year), and that new Unreal game (which i can't remember the name of now :p ), oh and ive just remembered GOW, not really piling out in droves are they, i may have forgot about a couple to like, but still its pretty much nothing, so an x1950 XT etc.. would tide someone over for a couple of months or more still yet. :)

Not understanding here... are you currently gaming at 1680 then? If you are and it plays ok, and all you really play with is WoW, why bother spending money at this point purely for extra frames per second?

Wonder what crysis looks like in DX9 hmm...
