AGP Problem?

Hello,

I just got a new system and here are the specs:

AMD X2 3800+
Asrock 939 dual sata2
Onboard sound
Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb w/ latest Omega drivers (tried ATI catalyst too)
1GB pc3200 Ram w/ 3GB PF
160GB Sata2 8mb cache hdd

I installed Win XP, SP2, avast antivirus and a bunch of drivers. I tested the new system out by playing Counter-strike: source with reccomended settings and low sound quality. When i played online i experienced lots of jitteryness and my system struggled heavily. Playing with bots was easier but it was lower than my old system (2800+ XP). I tried setting the affinity to one cpu only but no difference. I tried different drivers but no difference.

I have only found one thing that could be the source of the problem. The AGP settings was set to 'OFF' and fastwrite (whatever that is) was also off. On my old system, the card was set at AGP 8X, but when i turned it to 8X on the new system the screen doesn't get a signal when i restart. If i use shutdown instead the AGP gets set back to Off.

What the hell is going on?

P.S. CPU-Z doesn't state my graphics interface under 'mainboard'

Thank you

I suggest you check the official asrock dual sata 939 thread in these very forums.

All its going to be is the order that you installed the drivers. There's an exact way to do it on your board that should give you success. Also if I remember correctly you shouldn't use the ULI drivers that came with your mobo, but the ones from the net for the chipset?

Precise info can be found on the forum search and / or google.
