I currently have a 6800GT 256mb overclocked to Ultra specs. I cant afford a full system upgrade this side of Christmas and the rest of my system is currently sufficient for my needs.

However I'm noticing more and more that my graphics card is struggling with newer games. Is there an AGP card thats worth upgrading to thats going to give me a noticible graphics boost?

I would like a card with dual DVI ports on it and HD playback compatible if that possible.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers

Hi

The only card that will give you better results than your 6800gt is the ati x1950 pro 512mb agp.

I had a 6800gt which was struggling at higher resolutions with games so i sold it and bought a ati x1950 pro 512 and there was good performance increase and games ran much smoother.

Have a look at the reviews from people who have bought one and you will see there is a definate performance increase.

Cheers. It looks quite promising. Unless anyone else has any suggestions I think ill have to pick one of these up next week.

Would be interesting to know if people would rate the 7950GT AGP card, but it looks like only XFX produce it.

Apart from costing more than a 1950Pro, it might also lack official driver support as only XFX have released it.

The 1950pro has a proven track record so that would be my choice too!

The 7950 will be good but like Bane says the support may be a little lacking as the production run was quite limited.

Bumma :( + :p @ myself

Edit.

Get the 1950 anyways it's a proven card with many users on the boards for info tweaks etc.

I made the exact same upgrade as well. However I must state that for games like HL2, BF2142, and even Bioshock, it did not provide any performance boost but rather allowed me to max quality settings. This is a result of my CPU (AMD Athlon 64 3200+) bottlenecking the card. You may experience this, I'm not sure. At the current price of the X1950Pro though, it's still a worthwhile idea to get one and sell your 6800GT. :)

Ive ended up ordereing the ati x1950 pro 512mb. I've got watercooling so i'm hoping for a good overclock.

However I have heard that these chips dont clock well can anyone confirm this???

I'm not overly bothered if it doesn't overclock as the reviews ive read put it way above the card ive currently got anyway. So hopefully it will see me out untill spring 08 when ill go for a full system upgrade.
