AHCI Bios not installed..

Hi,

I have a dell vostro pc everything is SATA grrr..

So today I purchased a ATA PCI card which enables me to connect my IDE hdds to the PCI IDE connection..

Trouble is when I boot up windows I get an error message "ahci bios not installed"

I have never seen or heard of this error..

How do I rectify this problem? So that I can use my IDE and SATA hdd

If I use just the SATA hdd all is fine..Im confused..as soon as I connect the IDE hdd to the IDE connection on the PCI card then thats when I get the above error..

As far as I know AHCI is related to SATA not PATA.

Without knowing which Vostro and which HBA you’re talking about any solution would be based on guess work.

Having to guess I'd say that either the necessary drives aren't loaded, or the card has a BIOS that's failing to load due to insufficient space.

Have you tried the card in all the available slots to see if the problem fixes itself?
