About to format and install win7. Currently, I'm in Native IDE with XP.
I was going to change to AHCI for the new W7 install, but not sure now. I've read (on here) native IDE is better for compatibility? I have my main sata harddrive but also my 2 IDE drives connected. Which would be better to go with?

AHCI only really gives you NCQ, which isn't much use on a workstation and can even reduce performance in some cases, and hot-swap, which is only really needed if you're using removable caddies or a SATA drive dock.

If you don't need either of these facilities, I'd stick with standard IDE.
