Might be a stupid question, but it's bugging me and I can't find any decent answer on line.

Finalising a rebuild, and I've set my ssd to run in AHCI mode.

Once its finished installing all updates, I'll reconnect my 3 hdds.

ass the hdd were running in idw mode previously, will it cause problems when I restart the pc next.

Will I lose the data like if I tried to read files from a drive that was moved from a nas to internal on a pc?

Cheers.

Odd thing, I reconnected the drives, restarted the pc and it crashed my Windows install I think.

Wouldn't boot without the CD in.

Weird.

Did any of the old drives have an operating system on them? You will probably find that connecting them has screwed with the boot order and it's trying to boot off one of them, but as that install was done in IDE mode not AHCI it's crashing on boot.
