¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've never come across anything like this before.

My ISP is 186k. I'm on 2 meg ADSL.

I can access yahoo.co.uk fine

Google.co.uk times out.

The only way I can post this is because I'm using a slow public proxy right now.

My website that is hosted in the US is also non accessable... How the hell can I fix this?

I've tried 4 different PC's, all the same thing. Tried a mac and a laptop running linux, also the same, so that rules a virus out. I've also tried 3 different routers, which made no difference... I'm really running out of things to try right now. :(

I've also contacted my hosting company and my ISP... no reply as of yet.

Is there anything else I can try short of using internet by carrier pigeon, I'd love to know. This has to be one of the most annoying things that has happend to me, as it's been like this for the past 2 days!

Hmm, not a bad idea, unfortunately it didn't work, unless the DNS servers are pointing to the wrong IP?

C:\>ping www.google.com

Pinging www.google.com [216.239.59.147] with 32 bytes of data:

Finally, a working site:

C:\>ping www.yahoo.co.uk

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Very very strange.

How long have you been on that ISP? How long have you had the problems?

It sounds like your MTU size, change it on the router (If you have one?), start at 1400 and move up to 1500 in 100's.

It's only been like this for the last 2 days... I've been with this ISP around 6 months.

Yea, I'm behind a router.... I'll play with the MTU tomorrow, as I'm knackard now.

You can also do the following command to get an idea of where the problem lies:

tracert www.google.co.uk

This will give you a hop by hop trace route when you get to a hop that times out then that is where the problem is, depending on your ISP determines how many of the first few hops are within the ISP before getting out to the Internet.

If you get time outs very early on, its more likely going to be your ISP. I'd be checking that your net settings are all correct and confirm them with your ISP, failing that, do a virus/spyware scan.

Do you have a yahoo toolbar installed?

Is gave me this:

C:\>tracert www.google.co.uk

Tracing route to www.l.google.com [66.102.9.99]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

It definately seems to be the ISP by the looks of things. I'll give the openDNS thing a go... I may just work.

keep us updated!

What is your subnet mask set to - I have see this issue before when your subnet is wrong. (I had 8 IP's from eclipse and forgot to set my subnet as 255.255.255.248)

Well, my ISP got back to me... I was told to clear my cookies and cache, and try again.

Anyway, my MTu is already 1500.

I've tried using openDNS, and I still get the problem.

Also, my subnet mask is 255.0.0.0. I'm not sure if this is right or not, but I cannot see anywhere in the router I can change it.

I think openDNS might have worked after all!

Earlier, I was in a hurry and trying everything at once...

Now after leaving the openDNS settings on my router, is now appears to be working:

C:\>tracert www.google.co.uk

Tracing route to www.google.co.uk [64.233.161.147]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms . [192.168.1.1]

15 91 ms 92 ms 92 ms www.l.google.com [64.233.161.147]

Trace complete.

Either that, or my ISP has sorted it out. Anyway, it works now, so I'm not going to touch another setting unless I really have to. Thanks for the help guys. :)

EDIT: I've just noticed my IP address has changed since my last traceroute.
