Right... so I convinced my wife that rather than getting Sky multiroom if I got an xbox we could use that without the need for paying for a second proper box etc and also eliminate the need for cabling as we could use the home wifi...

Well, I've bought the 360 (should be arriving tomorrow) but I've just been reading up in more detail about the Sky Player service and... its crap!

You can only watch a handful of crappy live channels and the on demand selection is only slightly better... The way this was marketted was that you can watch the channels which your Sky package gives you access to... does it balls!

Not happy, and after spending 200 quid on the Xbox i'm gonna be in the doghouse too... fail :(

Excellent ploy for a 360, 10/10.

But wait.. she must have you pretty whipped to stop you buying a 360 for last how many years?? :o

Don't open it and send it back if it's that much of an issue. DSR means you can send it back for a refund as long as you don't open it.

Hha!

I've always been a PS3 man, and finally decided I'd like a 360 anyway cuz I'm sick of waiting for GT5 so wanted to play some Forza... also always wanted to do Halo 3 and a few others but never really wanted one enough to justify the cost...

When the Sky option came about I thought I'd give it a shot but seriously, what you get is sloblocks!

EDIT: I bought it on the MM and wouldn't want to send it back anyway I'm quite excited about it now in terms of the console... I'm just gutted that the Sky stuff is so rubbish!

Sky player is a bit naff, but you can still use it to watch some Sky progs and Play the odd 360 game so its still a Win!

Plus you will still need to pay a Sky Player fee (£10 a month i think), unless you already got multiroom.

plus an Xbox live Gold account fee, £30 ish per year.

TBH, proper multiroom would be much better. Good luck with the wife.

I wonder why they don't just let you watch all the stuff your Sky deal gives you access to... surely its not a technological problem?

Maybe they will in the future who knows...

Naah matey there is no extra fee as long as you're on Broadband Unlimited... if you're not you can pay for "Sky Player Multiroom" for a fiver...

Generally Sky player's content is adequate for an average TV watcher.

But to stream all 400 odd channels that is available on satellite online will cost sky a bomb in licence fees. And most users do not need that many channels.

Just Blag the Missus as Forza 3 is well worth any grief she'll give ya. ;)

Sky player is pretty decent for movies tbh. There is a lot to choose from, apart from te quality not bring great, it's a lot better than what Sky offers currently as "on demand" on their actual TV service.

I agree, the Sky player is beyond a total scam, I'm surprised they are still getting away with the advertising they use for it as it's a blatant lie!

Who wants to pay a quid to watch border force?

It's only good for films to be honest, not a bad selection and not bad quality considering it's streamed.

The lesson, don't takes things at face value, do the 'research' before you buy, not after!..

Yep, SKY player is pants if you want it to replace a complete SKY Box, if you want to watch a bit of footie or the main sky channels, then it's passable..

Women live to to be able to be able to say 'told you so' or similar, so you'll actually be making her happy by being able to have a go at you ;)

This , just hold your hand up and say you was wrong (she was right) apologise and offer to put the xbox back up for sale ,chances are she'll say no and let you keep it ! but if she does want you to sell it then agree but spend some time on it before you put it up for sale , tell her how much you like the console and after a few days she'll propably come out with my wifes favourite saying "well you might awell keep it now" , win win :D
