Aight I'm gonna ask THAT question.

I've got both! There's virtually no difference in functionality. Both excellent devices for gaming and multimedia.

PS3 has blu-ray. Defiantly nice, but whether it's worth it over DVDs is a matter of personal opinion.
PS3 has a few more exclusive titles.
xbox has a slight edge in multi-platform game ports, and is generally cheaper.
xbox live has more features/demos etc, and it's better laid out. But the catch is that you have to pay a subscription.
PS network is free, but less content.

In both cases get the slim version if you can - low power and quiet. I'd get the cheapest console, you can't really loose. If I really had to choose, I think xbox edges it, but ONLY since I pay the annual sub for xbox live. Otherwise I'd keep the PS3.

I love an RPG myself, but I'm not mad about those Japanesey Anime type ones. PS3 is flooded with those.

I'm not sold purely on JRPG, I just dont mind them.

Anyways, I've decided on the PS3. I've decided it's more future-proof with the Bluray and will save me spending cash on a seperate player.

Thanks all, decent thread.

Definitely! Defiantly means something completely different.

Thankfully i was able to decipher his complex encryption and understood the general direction of the post. Your input is appreciated though, and I'm sure he feels the same.

The PS3 slim is meant to be a much better console then the older Phat models. They run more efficiently and aren’t meant to have as many laser issues etc..

I’ve had rotten bad luck with my PS3 Phat. Its been replaced my Sony four times in total now. I’m on my third replacement that has seen its laser die and my forth is due sometime this week..

Thankfully, only paid for one of these refurb units as Sony has pretty much took pity on me and replaced them all bar one for free. But still, I’ve had such bad luck and I don’t mind so much but I keep losing all my protected game saves and downloads…

A full PS3 backup doesn’t work to another PS3. Downloads, game data and protected game saves don’t transfer to another PS3. Its very annoying. Lost my Killzone 2 save (yet again) and now going to lose my Mass Effect 2 save... Grrr..!!

So, I’m going to trade this replacement refurb and get aPS3 Slim with a 320GB hd and see how that gets on..

Excellent games and media console, I’ve just had the worst luck ever with mine… Thankfully it hasn’t put me off them…. Thousands use a PS3 without any issue. I think the refurb models are a bit hit n miss. You should be fine with a brand new Ps3 slim.

Enjoy your purchase…!!

The PS3 online is horrific compared to Xbox Live, but on the basis you have said you dont want that, I would plump for the PS3 over the 360. The 360 has little by way of must have exclusives these days.

very little difference between them. 90% of games are on both platforms.

if you want a blu ray player then get a ps3 otherwise id get an xbox as they are about 100 quid cheaper

And here come the first ill informed comments of the thread.

In what way is PSN horrific? Admittedly I prefer XBL for ease of playing with/talking to friends but to say that PSN is horrific is a bit stupid.
