Aint it a shame..

I few thoughts on this:

Consoles are made for kiddies. If older players are happy playing on them as well, so be it. Nobody's fault. It's like reading Noddy books in your bedroom when you should be reading Hawking.

If those older players are really interested in games, they'll drift towards PCs sooner or later anyway.

If an older console player refuses PC games, it just means he's happy with inferior gaming. The casual gamer.

Some people will just be happy to prefer Space Invaders Revisited 3D 2010 Edition to Baldur's Gate or Company of Heroes. Their loss.

Sadly, with console ports on the rise, our choices of original good games is going to be very limited indeed.

And (to answer the question) yes, it is a shame.

The people that harp on about how PCs are for REAL MEN really do make me laugh. On the other hand it's a shame i guess though as they clearly are quite into gaming and their utterly blinkered views are leading them to miss out on some of the best titles in gaming. In order to enjoy everything that the medium has to offer surely a person needs all of the platforms for delivering that medium? Anyone that never experiences games like Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles has really missed out in my books.

It is a shame when people miss out on any part of gaming to me, it's a wonderful medium of entertainment that is changing and growing in more complex and interesting ways than any other form of entertainment currently on the market imo. There's fantastic stories, loveable characters, exciting set-pieces and some beautiful music that a huge population are completely missing out on, usually for no better reason than 'video games are for dorks!'.

Eheh, wrong, post invalidated. What a snobbish, high horse view of PC gaming you have there. Lets have a look at the top selling 3 games of all time on the PC platform shall we:

The Sims
The Sims 2
World of Warcraft

Oh yes very adult oriented. Next on the list Leisure Suit Larry? I think not.

PC vs Console are simply different markets thats all. In the last decade there has been such a massive convergence of capability that the PC market has lost much of its share to the console market.

I don't try to convert any of my friends that aren't already converted, cos I don't want to spend the rest of my life recommending graphics cards, installing memory, cleaning viruses off their PCs, defragging their hard drives, messing with config files and generally baby sitting their PC gaming experience.

PC gaming is niche because Microsoft operating systems make it too much trouble to be mainstream.

Got to agree with this lol :D. Although I do try & tell them it has sooooo much better gaming experience on an ok rig.

Counterstrike and other FPS's have defined PC gaming for most, but lets not forget Warcraft/Starcraft etc. These are useless on consoles as well, mouse owns controller most if not everytime.

People are blinkered fools who can only see as far as justifying their own purchases to themselves. They seem to think that gaming only started with the 360 & PS3 when i've been playing games in HD resolutions for what, ten years or more?

Leave them to it, call of duty to me is just a modern version of quake

I agree with this. I'll buy a game on the best platform I can get it on.

I'm not going to dismiss amazing games on the PS3 or Xbox 360, just because I can play games on the PC.

Hypocrisy?
