Hi All,

OK these CPUs have been out for some time which means all the AIO reviews I'm seeing are from 2017!!

What's currently the best AIO for TR4 (currently 1950x but probably 3950x in medium term).

Mobo = Taichi x399
Case = Enthoo Evolv ATX

I was looking at

https://www.enermaxeu.com/service/discontinued/products/coolers/intro/liqtech-tr4/

but review don't seem very positive and longevity also seems to be an issue.

Maybe something like the Alphacool Eisbaer 420 CPU but reviews seem scarce, I'm not brave enough to go full "custom loop"!

Many Thanks

I don't think a 420 will fit in your case.

Also, what was the most popular AIO (Enermax LiqTech TR4) has turned up to have quite serious reliability issues over time.

With the new(ish) socket/layout, I don't know how many AIOs have been released with appropriate cold plates. It's a good idea to look for a decent TR water block and DIY a simple loop. That's all the Eisbaer is really.

What LuckyBenski said.

Evolv ATX with stock fan placement, blocking all openings not covered by front intake fans and removing all PCIe back slot covers to improve exhaust vent area around GPU and thus have better front to back airflow and cooler temps with a big air cooler like Thermalright TRUE Spirit 140 Power for about fifty quid would cool very well. TRUE Spirit 140 Power is extremely good cooler with none that cool any better and all costing much more. Never mind, if you have GPU to top x16 PCIe socket TRUE Spirit 140 Power will not fit .. it's too wide. :( Could use NH-U14S would be tight fit to PCIe socket, but NH-D15S, Cryorig R1 Ultimate and R1 Universal will clear with about 5mm to spare.

AIOs are 99.9% CLCs which will not perform as well as top tier air coolers. Compound this with costing more, not lasting as long, etc. and it really makes no sense buying one.

depends on the AIO/CLC. Alphacools Eisbaer 30mm copper rads can dissipate 500w of heat with high performance fans before being saturated

I run their eisbaer block/pump with 45mm thick rad and silent wing 3 fans so looking over 600w at 2200rpm - granted thats boarder line Custom them AIO/CLC

that just isn't true especially on a threadripper system.
True, but not by much according to HardOCP testing. Thermalright Silver Arrow TR4 scored .3603 vs XSPC Raystorm system scoring 3.813. Coolermaster was 3.401. That was on 2900WX PBO clocks. Temps all peaked at same 67.8-68.3c. I think their Raystorm system is component system, not an AIO.

They did test Enermax LiqTech TR4 240,280 and 360 but their scores were even lower at 6.95c 69.3c and 6.53c to Raystorm 61.9c

Alphacool Eisbaer are AIO, not CLC. They are basically pre-assembled and filled component systems .. and there are very few AIOs on the market. be quiet! has their Silent Loop series and Swiftech has their X series .. I can't think of any others at the moment. I like the idea of Alphacool Eisbaer, but have not had a chance to test them out and use for for extended period.
