Hi,

Does anybody know of an AIO cooler that you can get without a radiator? I mean one that has the pump and built in (like a corsair h60 or similar but without the hoses) so i can add it to a custom loop?

Ive seen a build, using the same case i have now (thermaltake core v1) and its running an overclocked 4690k and a 780ti and is really cool apparantly using a modified AIO cooler and 1x Alphacool 140mm thick radiator.

This 140mm radiator is really thick so do you think it would cool a mildly overclocked 6700k and 970?

Not really, you would barely get temps better than air and would have the run your fans at very high rpm,you want a 240mm rad at a minimum for a 6700k and 970

I can fit in my case an aerocool 140mm, 60mm thick rad (square shape) and a triple 40mm rad at the back (oblong shape). That's 30mm thick. Do you think that would cool a 6700k and 970?

As a rough guide you want 120mm of rad space per component to be cooled plus 120mm. In your case ideally you want 360mm of rad space.

I am sure I read somewhere that thickness of rads is not as important as overall size and surface area?

What do you mean by 3x40mm triple? A 40mm thick rad that takes 3x 120mm fans?

I just looked up your case, it's the itx one yes? If so it can only take a 120mm or 140mm rad at the front and only has a pair of 80mm fan positions at the back. I am not even sure that a 2x 80mm rad would fit there as they are right on top of the motherboards I/O ports and may even prevent a gpu being installed. As a rule any rad smaller than 120mm is a waste of time anyway as the fans generally can't pass enough air through the rad unless at full chat and that makes them very noisy. It's not a case for watercooling really and if you want to go down the multiple radiator route then I think you need to look at a bigger case.

Its this one here.. Takes 3x 40mm fans

The review i have read, this kept a 3770k overclocked to 65 degrees on full load. This should cool the 970 easily shouldnt it leaving the other radiator to help with the cpu?

That's a cute little radiator!

Theoretically it has the equivalent 120mm surface area. Not sure how the much smaller fans will perform though.

Is that the Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 40mm Triple? I wouldn't go near that. I just read a review where the fans had to run at 4900rpm to keep a unclocked 4670k at 59 degrees C and that was on a open air test bench. Add in some overclocking and that rad would soon be overwhelmed. To me that just proves that 40mm fans just can't shift enough air to make it worthwhile, plus they tend to be screamers. The connections are only 6mm as well so would add a lot of restriction. Like I said before, I reckon that if you stick a rad in those 80mm fan positions it look's like you will not be able to fit a gpu in. I think you need to pick a different case if you want to do this properly.
